MBA still attracts applicants in spite of economic downturn
Weeks ago we conducted a survey with new MBA applicants from various forums and sites, to find out whether the current economic recession has any effect on application. Our surveys indicates the appeal of MBA has not been dimmed by the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009.

Key findings:
1. Most of the applicants are already working full time jobs, and over 33% of the applicants earn more than $80,000 a year.
2. Contrary to the common thought that MBA applicants apply for a higher income, the top 3 motivations for applying to MBA program are:
Whereas only 10% of the applicants said that they puruse an MBA for higher future income.
3. The economic downtown did not discourage most of the applicants. In our survey, over 80% of the applicants expressed that the recession did not change their minds because:
4. Marketing, Operation management, Management are the 3 areas that MBA applicants are most interested in, followed by Finance.
Although it is worth noticing an area interest shift with income. Applicants with lower income show more interest in areas such as operation management and marketing; whereas applicants with higher income show more interest in quantative methods and finance.

This information is quite interesting. I'm surprised to find out that quite a few folks share very similar thought as mine. Getting to a bottleneck of the job, earning decent money, and thinking of changing profession... Anyway this year is a good time to inverstigate more on this, as a new year solution thing :)
